Carl Ramsey – A Memorial Retrospective At Art Share L.A. January 28 – 31

Every now and then an artist comes along with the rare ability to capture heart and soul with their brush. Carl Ramsey was such an artist.  A long-time resident of Downtown LA’s Historic Core, Carl painted the pulse of his neighborhood for over 20 years.

His expressive work documented architecture, street scenes, historic landmarks, but most poignantly, the people. This posthumous exhibit will include the urban scenes for which Carl is best known, several breathtaking landscapes, and the many portraits he created during his 20 years of painting in DTLA. Deftly painted in oil on canvas, his large and small canvases are all available for sale at the prices he first established many years ago.

Also on view for the first time ever will be the very touching seated portrait series “Women of Skid Row” – his final paintings. These works on paper are touching renditions of the homeless, depicted with humanity and a dignity that is usually unseen by the casual observer, yet captured eloquently by his masterful hand.

Carl Ramsey died of cancer on Sept 1, 2014. He was 68 years old.

The event is free and open to the public. Plentiful free and safe parking across the street in the Art Share lot.
