Rebecca Molayem has been a quiet force in the Los Angeles art scene – until now. Opening her first eponymous gallery on Robertson Avenue in 2009, she relocated to another location at 8304 West Third Street in 2012, as a showcase for her own unique work and that of a select few other artists. She has just relocated much of her work to her latest gallery and studio, opening on Saturday May 7th  at 481 South Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, in a newly –designed, modern space that promises be a noteworthy and sophisticated addition to the exploding contemporary art scene in LA.

The new expansive Molayem Gallery and Studio location will feature predominantly mid-career painters and sculptors as well as Molayem’s latest works. The Fairfax location also houses her work studio, and includes an area for events, classes and a kiln for firing sculpture. The Third Street location is being renovated and re-branded as Rebecca Molayem Home Store and Gallery, and will be a more casual setting. Re-opening soon, it will host cheerful, whimsical group shows of smaller works from local emerging artists, and also include hand-painted décor, housewares, ceramics, functional art, and prints.

Says Molayem about her newest endeavor, “I want to create an interactive creative space with regular rotating exhibits and varied events for artists, young collectors, and the serious art buyer. We will be offering multiple series of sculpting and painting classes, life-drawing workshops, panel discussions, social meet-ups, and hosting events such as our Wine & Cheese Art Salon Nights and VIP Collector Dinners. We look forward to meeting more art enthusiasts, so please tell your friends about our new location.”

The premiere exhibit,  “Transitions,” will address the idea of change, as in a change of location, a visible transition through time, a change from trash to treasure. The exhibit features three artists exploring the concept of change in their lives and their art, all in one unique medium – Encaustic. Featured artists will be Rebecca Molayem, Michael Hayden, and Kandy Lozano. The Grand Opening will be held on May 7th from 7-10 pm.
