Dorian La Padura and Marvin Jordana

Dorian La Padura paints with color and light. By tying relationships of colors to one another and to various gray tones, he evokes specific feelings and emotions, as well as meditative states. These works were made over several years, and use landscape, floral, and abstract elements. Included in this show are several paintings and one site-specific wall mural.

Marvin Jordana‘s drawings pull from subconscious sources; combining non-specific organic forms with cultural references, drawing on Chinese traditions and American post modernism to form contemporary hybrids. All these drawings are simple, stark presentations on paper or traditional scrolls.

In the Project Windows, RichardTravel Tea Sets
DomiTea Ankrom returns to BGFA for the second time with “Water and Power,” a neon installation which uses electricity and light to mimic the movement of water lapping on the shore. Bright and exuberant, Ankrom brings one of Los Angeles’s signature tropes, Owens Valley Water, to a metaphoric central location in the heart of Downtown, uniting virtual nature with the emerging urban future of the new Los Angeles.
