Loft at Liz’s is proud to present “Seeing Double,” featuring the works of Nolan Preece and Kaethe Kauffman. The exhibit will run from February 18th through March 20th, 2017. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, February 18th from 7 – 10pm.

A photographer for over forty years, Nolan Preece has devoted his work to understanding and mastering the challenging techniques of early photography but also promoting new processes such as the chemogram (1981), now called the chemigram, and an experimental cliché-verre process he discovered in the late nineteen-seventies involving smoke on glass. His portfolios include platinum, silver gelatin, cibachrome, chemigram, and digital prints.

Preece, who is married to a research ecologist, says “I’ve been concerned about the destruction of the environment for many years. My first chemograms, made in the early 1980s, had an emphasis on our physical surroundings- our earth, our waterways. I document and fight for the environment.”

Preece’s distinctive work is in many collections including the Nevada Museum of Art, the Norra Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Logan, UT and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Salt Lake City.

Kaethe Kauffman received her MFA in Studio Fine Arts from the University of California, Irvine, having previously studied at the University of London, University of Belgrade and Instituto de Bellas Artes including a year of graduate study at the Instituto Allende (Universidad de Guanajuato) in Mexico.

Kauffman remarks, “Religious art glorifies the sacred experience. My imprint is personal and through my process, it is my inner world which is revealed for all to see.” Her paintings, drawings and murals are in many private and corporate collections and have been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Berkeley, San Francisco, Australia, and Europe with a one-person exhibit at the Czech Museum of Fine Arts in Prague, and a recent group exhibit at Hofstra University in New York.
