The Critical Eye
by, Phil Tarley

Prince Poppycock is a brilliant, highly original, performance artist with a 6-octave vocal range. Deliciously whimsical and quintessentially queer.Described by style maven and pop culture journalist Rose Apodaca as a “rock star in Rococo France,” Prince Poppycock is a roguish, powder-wigged dandy with a powerful classically trained voice. His work combines glam rock, light opera, and synth pop.

The Prince became one of reality televisions most unique and creative stars when he appeared on NBC’s “Americas Got Talent,” where judge Sharon Osbourne dubbed him “the male Lady Gaga” for his outrageous costumes and extravagant production numbers. Poppycock finished 4th in a field of 120,000 entrants that season, and became one of the last people to perform with Donna Summer in a duet the two did for his final bow on AGT.

Prince Poppycock has cut the ribbon on the Christmas windows at Bergdorf Goodman; starred in Il Ballo del Doge – the premier party of the Venice Carnival; been presented the key to West Hollywood in front of half a million Halloween revelers; appeared at MAC cosmetics events internationally; and headlined LGBT pride festivals from Norway to Portland. He has opened for Chaka Khan and Taylor Dane, and accompanied burlesque queen Dita Von Teese on a sold-out US tour. He has also worked with many charitable organizations, including The Trevor Project, The It Gets Better Foundation, Divas Simply Singing, regional AIDS organizations around the country, and Rise Up and Shout – a foundation that supports emerging young LGBT artists in LA.

Poppycock’s phenomenal pop fantasy act is hard to catch. He has only two Los Angeles performances at The Cavern Club Friday March 2nd & Saturday March 3rd 9:00 PM. 1920 Hyperion Avenue In Los Angeles. I can hardly wait to see him again- a rare treat.
